This year's barleywine base beer consisted of two English Malts in large quantity, boiled hours longer than normal to achieve a bigger body, and then balanced with English hops for sustained excitement, even after spending a year in barrels. We utilized a smaller blend size, using just two special gin barrels from Copperworks Distillery. The gin definitely pops, but was balanced with the base barleywine that never went in barrels and sat in kegs to cold-condition during the same time frame. The botanicals in this beer really bring a savory profile. Rosemary, sage and juniper are center stage. It’s certainly not like any barleywine you've ever had, and that’s the point.
